9:41 AM Apple Rejects Android Mag from App Store
Apple's App Store has faced heat in the past for being walled garden, especially in its review process. Its latest victim, Media Provider's App - Android Magasinet - was rejected by Apple on grounds that it offered Android Only content. Brian Dixen, MD for Danish Magazine Mediaprovider, stated that he received a call from Apple Worldwide Developers Relation Executive Richard stating that the App is just about Android and Apple can't have it in App store.
Android Magasinet App is a bi-monthly magazine content provider that talks about Android OS and the smartphones on that OS. When Dixen received call from Apple about the rejection, he asked for the reason. Richard, an Apple executive from Worldwide Developers Relation hesitantly responded, "You know... your magazine... it's just about Android.... we can't have that in our App Store." MediaProvider already offers iPhone Magasinet and Gear magazine apps that talk about iPhone related information in the App Store. Dixen feels that a babe's photo on the Android Magazine's cover might've been the issue, but he is still surprised with Apple's response. Now blocking Android only content is bit brash on Apple's part and also shows how insecure the company is. Apple already boasts of selling n number of apps in the App store, so how come Android Content only App should matter. Let's see if there's any legitimate reason Apple would provide to Mediaprovider.
