Car makers post decent growth in November

 

Carmakers continue to celebrate its festivities as the domestic auto sector hogged the limelight in the month of November, 2010 wherein sales so registered, accounted for a nominal growth.

The Indian auto czars, Maruti Suzuki, which is steadily growing, accountedfor  a sales growth of 34.2 per cent in the Indian automotive industry in the month of November over last year in same month. The Indian car manufacturer reported sales of  1,12,554 units. This year, two times in a row Maruti Suzuki, recorded a sale of more than 1 lakh cars in the Indian auto market.

However, Hyundai Motors could not keep up with the growth in November, 2010. the Japanese auto giant, reported a decline of 19.4 per cent in its composite sale in November, 2010 which includes exports with sales of 44,542 units as against last year's sale of 55,241 units in November. On the bright side, it recorded a 12 per cent hike in the sale in the Indian auto market. The second biggest manufacturer in India sold 31,540 units over last years sale in the same month.

Tata Motors, best known for giving the wonder car "Tata Nano” and "Tata Aria”, the first crossover to India, registered a hike of 1 per cent in the month of November, 2010 when compared to the last month's sale. This year after the festive month in November, the company sold 50,419 cars over 50,114 last year same month in the commercial and passenger car segment. Tata Nano disappointed the makers the most by drowning the sales to 85 per cent by selling 509 cars in November. One of the company's most popular car model Tata Indica sales went down by 37 per cent with the sale of just 5,716 units.

Mahindra & Mahindra had a sigh of relief as the company accounted a growth of 18 per cent by selling 26,666 cars. The tractor sales of M&M rose to 17,993 units in November, 2010 over last year's 12,592 units in November.

The American auto maker General Motors in India continued the growth by registering 18 per cent in November, 2010 when compared to last years sales. In November, the company sold 8,376 units which was 7118 units last year, same month.
