10:05 AM Dell Venue Pro Launched for $450 in U.S.
Dell Venue Pro is the first Microsoft Windows Phone 7 phone with a full QWERTY slider form factor. This phone was announced officially at Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 event and was dubbed earlier as Dell Lightening. Dell has announced the pricing of Venue Pro on its website. The phone costs $450 (Rs. 20,380 approx.) for no-contract and $99 (Rs. 4,530 approx.) with a two year contract from T-Mobile.
Loaded with 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Venue Pro comes with a 4.1-inch Gorilla Glass AMOLED touchscreen display. With 1GB ROM and 512MB DDR SDRAM, the Windows Phone 7 OS is expected to run smoothly. This large screen slider phone also offers a QWERTY keypad which makes me think if it was necessary. It's the RIM's BlackBerry Torch design all over again.
Other features of this smartphone include Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, G-sensor, eCompass, Proximity sensor, light sensor, FM Radeo, GPS and 1400 mAh battery. As of now, we aren't sure about Dell's plans to bring this phone to India. But considering the price parity that always existed, this Windows Phone 7 running might cost around Rs. 28,000-Rs. 30,000 when introduced in India. That price would certainly keep it at par with high-end Android handsets and Apple iPhone in India.
