4:47 PM Google gives a Makeover to Gmail Homepage
Google has trimmed down the homepage of its popular web-mail service Gmail and has come up with a new Gmail logo. The sky blue strip in the header carrying "Welcome to Gmail" on the Gmail homepage has been dropped along with the text. The blue strip in the footer has also been removed. Looks like Google is slowly rolling out new icons and logos for its different web offerings.
Jason Toff, product marketing manager for Gmail, stated in the blogpost, "Our goal was to keep a familiar look while freshening up the graphics and trimming down the text (we cut out over 250 words in the process)." Yes, the new graphics certainly look pleasing but all those (including me) who stay logged into their PCs and Macs might just miss a more refined homepage. New Gmail logo gets a subtle and fresh look. The envelope icon looks bit curved at the edges. Gmail engineers have also changed icons for Space, Mobile and Spam features on the homepage. Take a look at this new Gmail page and let us know what you think about it.
