When it comes to Aamir Khan Productions expectations are bound to be high and Kiran Rao’s directorial debut will definitely make it worth a wait! In an event organized for media in Mumbai the first look of Dhobi Ghat was unveiled. In media interaction Kiran spoke about the movie and her experience with Aamir as a producer. Few facts which she revealed will be surely interesting to know. Dhobi Ghat comes with a tagline saying, Dhobi Ghat (Mumbai dairies). The reason Mumbai dairies was added to the title as the film went to International film festivals and an English title is required to register. Kiran said, "The tile is more of a metaphor and a story of four people staying in the same city.” Kiran added, the story revolves around four characters in the movie that stays in Mumbai and the fifth character is Mumbai. The film is almost 40% in English. When asked Kiran that wont it affect the audience rate? She calmly replied, "It’s a very different film, it has slice of life. It is to sensitize people and an opportunity to change the film making style.” She further added by saying, "the characters have their own voice and I wanted people to speak the way they will speak. Language is one of the aspects which might reduce my audience but it will appeal to people. If I would make this movie completely in Hindi then the film would have lost realism and charm.” Promotion of the film required lot of brain storming. Kiran said, "Aamir, Spice and the team sat and worked on the promotion and the post card thought was from marketing team which was further worked on.” Kiran’s inspiration for such movies comes from Mumbai city itself. When media asked Kiran about her inspiration the young director quickly replied by saying, " I am very inspired by the city of Mumbai and my film is a tribute to the city. Life in Mumbai inspires me.” Kiran notified that it’s not a Aamir movie by saying, "I am hoping that everyone likes the film but it’s not a Aamir Khan film, as one can’t expect it to be Aamir’s next flick after 3 Idiots.” Aamir’s changed hairstyle was also something to be discussed on which Kiran confidently said, "We tried few looks and then we arrived at this look seen on-screen.” Kiran didn't forget to mention that working with Aamir was a great experience for her and insisted on the fact that he is a great producer to work with. The young and talented director sounded very confident and grabbed all the eyeballs in the hall. There is a lot of curiosity about the film and slated to release on Jan 21. We wish Kiran All The Best for her movie. | |
