10:12 AM LAVA A10: A Low-cost Touch Phone with IPS Display | |
Indian mobile phone maker LAVA has released the A10, a touchscreen phone for Rs. 5,500 that has advertises a few baits to get people hooked. First and foremost is its 3-inch IPS (In-Plane Switching) screen; the type of screen that is used in the Apple iPhone 4 or even the iPad. What it bets on providing is a superior image and a 178 degree wide viewing angle. What they haven't mentioned is the screen resolution, as this is a major contributor to the iPhone 4's display quality. But considering it is an inexpensive phone, we wouldn't imagine it to be above a QVGA or 320 x 240 pixels. Also, there's no clarity over whether this is a capacitive or resistive type - but the words "Multi-touch" in the description makes us believe (and hope) that it is the former.
Second is the Gunmetal finish body which looks nice and, hmm...reminds us of the Samsung Wave S8500. It's got a 3.2 mega-pixel camera with Flash, a Yamaha PA system (that should promise us loud decibels of sound from the speaker-phone, if not the "great quality" as mentioned) and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Another feature which caught our eye by surprise is the "Map my India" maps built-in, but there's no GPS chip mentioned anywhere so turn-by-turn navigation's out of the question. There are a couple of games pre-installed and a G-sensor for motion based gaming. Lastly, a microSD card slot supports up to 16GB of memory.
