10:54 AM LG Wink Series | |
The LG Wink Series is a range of touchscreen feature phones aimed at younger consumers, pitched against the Samsung Corby / Genio range and perhaps just slightly downmarket from the LG Cookie range of phones.
LG haven't shared much about the specification of these handsets, but prospective Winkers can choose from the LG Wink Style, LG Wink 3G or just the plain old LG Wink. LG's press release is scant, and they have rather unhelpfully provided a set of photos which don't say which model is which. LG say that these handsets are aimed at "Generation Z", which is basically anyone under the age of 20 or so. They all feature a touch-sensitive display with an on-screen QWERTY keyboard , FM radio and microSD expandable memory plus a media player and 3.5mm audio socket. The base model is the LG Wink (T300), which comes with a small 2.4" 240 x 320 pixel touchscreen display, a 1.2 megapixel or better camera and GPRS and EDGE data, although that's pretty much all we do know at the moment. Up a step is the LG Wink Style (T310), this sports a 2.8" screen and "a variety of color options with accents on the front button panel". Then there is also the LG Wink 3G (T320) of which we know very little except that it has a QVGA touchscreen like the others, and it appears to support 3G but not 3.5G connectivity. According to LG, the Wink series should be available in Europe from mid-August onwards, although we suspect that it might be renamed when it comes to the UK. The range should be available in Latin America, the CIS, China and other Asian countries during Q3 2010
