In India,October and November are considered to be the peak season months in automobile industry, due to festive and wedding seasons. Here is a quick look how car makers in India have been performing with respect to the hatchback segment in November, 2010 in the domestic market.
India's top selling brand, Maruti Suzuki again dominates the hatchback market despite new brands coming in, with a gross total of 76,505 hatchback cars sold last month which includes sales of the Maruti 800 with 2,440 units, Maruti Alto with highest number of 32,377 units, Maruti Zen Estilo with 4,439 units, Maruti Wagon R with 15,617 Units, Maruti Swift with sales 12,198 Units, Maruti A-star with 3,055 Units and stylish Maruti Ritz with sales of 6,377 Units.
Hyundai Motors has sold 28,840 vehicles last month with Hyundai i10 contributing the maximum number of 14,617 units followed by Hyundai i20 with 7,228 units and Hyundai Santro Xing with 6,995 units. Hyundai i10 has evolved as one of the most reliable cars in the domestic market.
General Motors subsidiary Chevrolet has sold 5909 vehicles last month with Chevrolet Aveo contributing 291 vehicles, Chevrolet Aveo U-VA with 286 vehicles, Chverolet Spark with total sales of 2785 and Chevrolet Beat making a significant contribution of 2,547 vehicles. Looks of Chevrolet Beat have been highly appreciated by hatchback fanatics.
Tata Motors has sold around 6225 cars by November end with Tata Indica contributing 5716 units and Tata Nano with 509 unit sales. Though Tata Indica comes in wide range of variants but figures have failed to meet Tata Motors expectations. Tata Nano also failed miserabley to meet the customer's expectations. Tata is again to come up with hybrid variant of Tata Nano by next year with some redefined changes and upgradations.
Ford India has also got its glory back in the domestic market with Ford Figo ruling Indian hearts. The overall sales figures of Ford Figo were 5,482 units last month. Ford Figo has evolved as a true value for money cars due to its economical pricing and wide range range of class features in it.
Fiat, the Tata Motors joint venture in Inda failed miserabley to prove its presence in the domestic market. Though its Fiat Punto and Fiat Palio have been dominating overseas but were unable to grip the Indian buyers. In total Fiat has sold 722 cars this month which includes 699 units of Fiat Grande Punto and 23 units of Fiat Palio.
Skoda India launched the new Skoda Fabia 1.2 litre which worked as a boon for them ,but last month Skoda managed to sell 970 Skoda Fabia models across the country. Though the figures are less in count but Skoda is renowned for its class, technology and quality worldwide.
Nissan is dealing with Nissan Micra in the hatchback segment and closed the last month with 1029 units sales of Nissan Micra. Nissan Micra at present comes in petrol variant and are all set to bring in the Nissan Micra Diesel in order to groove themselves as a well established brand across the nation
Volkswagen, one of the leading automotive brand worldwide, has sold 1,975 units of Volkswagen Polo. Polo has been one the most demanded cars this year though the company is facing the production shortage but even then the company is sure enough that they would soon be able to meet the rising demands.
On a particular note, Maruti Alto, Maruti Wagon R, Hyundai i10, Maruti Swift and Ford Figo has been the most selling cars last month. Indian hatchback market contrbutes more than 80% of the total domestic automobile industry out of which Maruti and Hyundai are the leading champs.
