4:42 PM MSI Launches CX620 with 3D Capability
We'd tested one of the MSI's C series models long back. They have now rolled out a 3D enabled version of the CX620 desktop replacement laptop. What it essentially means is its 15.6-inch LED backlight display is capable of displaying 3D content that can be seen by the users with the help of polarized glasses. It has three modes: a conventional 2D mode, a mode for 3D content and a mode where 2D imagery can be converted to 3D. Otherwise, it is pretty much like any other 15-incher laptop.
It is powered by either an Intel Core i3 or i5 processor and ATI's Radeon 5470 graphics, the performance of which we've judged to be too weak to power heavily graphics laden games of today. Now that we're making comparisons, a very similar-functioning Acer laptop we'd tested long ago didn't really impress us much with its 3D ability. But by using this technology and not the active-shutter glasses based tech we've seen in expensive laptops like this one from Asus, companies are able to keep costs at saner levels. But what you'll lose out on is a more realistic and immersive 3D experience. Moving on, the CX620 is powered by Windows 7 Home Premium and can occupy up to a healthy 8GB DDR3 RAM and an option to choose from a 320GB or 640GB hard drive. There's a VGA and HDMI port for projecting to a bigger display. It weighs 2.5 kilos which is fair for a 15-inch desktop replacement. Pricing and availability details are unavailable at the moment, but we're mostly sure they wouldn't be too extravagant.
