Patchwork Quilt: GT5 Patches 'every week, month'

We've received our copy of Gran Turismo 5, and boy, are we underwhelmed! Apart from the online gremlins that hit the much hyped racing title at launch, the graphics make the game look - and there's no better way to put it - broken at the outset. This, when compounded with the interminable load times thanks to the online glitch, and the damage modelling being only cosmetic makes one sink further into disbelief.
However, as Polyphony digital seems to have forgotten to ship a complete and polished title, producer Kazunori Yamauchi announced that the game would be "upgrading every week, every month," at the GT5 launch party. The damage, which was restricted only to the body, will see an update later this month according to a Twitter update by the producer. The proposed update will introduce mechanical damage that will affect gameplay and reward calculated driving.
Online lounge support will be added piecemeal in the form of regular updates. Kazunori also revealed the possibility of GT5 incorporating a free-roam area allowing regular everyday driving, where players can conform to the speed limit and traffic laws. The mode is purported to allow the players to get out of the car and roam about. The only thing GT5 needs then is the 'F' key, because no free-roam mode is complete without good ol' carjacking.
