9:43 AM R.U.S.E. DLC Slated for December
They say there's no such thing as free lunch. Unless you happen to be one of the good people at Eugen Systems, who have promised free downloadable content for their game R.U.S.E. next month. R.U.S.E. is a real time strategy (RTS) game from the French developer, which lays emphasis on the ways of deception and information warfare. Apart from the regular RTS gameplay mechanics, R.U.S.E. allows players to bluff, trick and use decoys to turn the tide of war, just like it was done during the good old days of conventional wars, when the Damocles Sword of M.A.D. didn't loom over our heads. The DLC will be released in December through Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and Steam platforms for the Xbox 360, PlayStation3 and PC respectively. Dubbed as the Manhattan Project Pack, which as WWII nuts should know, was the codename for the Allies top secret nuclear development program, the DLC will include nukes by the truckloads. Manhattan Project Pack has added multiplayer maps that put you in North African territories, Italy and Holland for 2vs2 and 3vs3 battles. The DLC also ships with two new multiplayer modes: Nuclear War and Total War. Nuclear War includes the scary tactical nukes launched through Long Tom cannons typical of WWII. Total War starts from 1939, with history advancing every 10 minutes, so you have with new units and advanced technology being introduced at a fast pace. It's good to see a developer treating the trend of DLC to add more post purchase value to their products and not just another cash cow to milk their customers with. Let's just hope this isn't one of their R.U.S.E.s.
