As soon as Michelle Obama met our veteran actress Shabana Azmi dressed in Sahukat Azmi’s old Kanjeevaram silk saree in flaming orange and deep maroon colours, she congratulated her for the choice of colours she made. Shabana was accompanied by hubby Javed Akhtar, who also caught the first lady’s attention in his Sherwani.
When the duo realized that she is fascinated by Indian clothings and is adventurous with colours too instead of playing safe with black, Shabana called for Manish Malhotra but he couldn't make it on time, and now it would be send to US. When the US Prez met Shabana and Javed he said, "So you are both artistes and you combine it with politics.”
Shabana and Michelle connected immediately. Few minutes later they were seen laughing and joking. The actress and Michelle discussed Indian designers and Shabana’s play Broken Images with which she had just toured the US. Michelle who showed desire to see the play is now looking forward to March, when the play will be held in Kennedy Centre, in Washington, DC.
Michelle has been the darling of the US people as she has shown her interest towards promoting young American designers, so her interest in designer clothes is convincing.
