9:34 AM Sony Reader App for iOS, Android Due in December
Following the footsteps of Amazon, Sony too is working on a Reader App for the Apple iOS platform. This Reader App for Apple iOS and Google Android platform is due for release next month. Along with the regular features like make bookmarks, notes, highlights and adjust font size, users also get to access Reader Store and books purchased from there. But the rivals Amazon and Barnes & Nobles already have their Reader App for Apple iOS and Google Android platforms.
New Sony Reader App wouldn't do anything different or magical compared to the Apple iBooks, Amazon Kindle App, and Nook Reader App for iOS platform. Same set of features and services are being available only to the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad owners. Back in June, Amazon added embeddable video and audio support in the Kindle App which will make it users enjoy more interactive eBook content on the iPhone. This makes the Sony Reader App and Nook Reader App features repetitive and somewhat redundant. The question here is: Would you buy second or third Reader App for your iPhone/iPad or Android based smartphones just to access a specific eBook store?
