Ubisoft has announced the availability of the newest additions to the Ghost Recon franchise on the Wii and PSP platforms. The games are titled Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon for the Wii and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Predator on the PSP. The games share the tried and tested premise from Ghost Recon series, where you are a member of a fictional elite Special Forces team undertaking classified ops that leverage advanced weaponry and tactics to overcome great odds.
The Wii version of Ghost Recon takes place in Norway and Moscow and features two Ghosts, Hibbard and Booth isolated from their squad. This makes for a co-op based gameplay, which supports second player to take over from AI and join the single player campaign anytime. The co-op seems very promising because it eschews the debilitating split screen co-op mode for a much better single screen alternative with a third person perspective for both players. Activision release also claims that Ghost Recon will include an Arcade Mode with online leaderboards. Something tells me this is poised to be an absolute blast. Ghost Recon Predator for PSP is set deep in the hostile jungles of Sri Lanka. The Ghosts are tasked with prepping the zone for assault by allies, but the game brings in a compelling twist with the Ghosts Ghosts discovering evidence that may bring them in conflict with the entire operation. The game includes ad-hoc co-op multiplayer which supports a maximum of three players on the portable console. The theme is similar to all Ghost Recon games with the inclusion of advanced tactical warfare with an emphasis on futuristic weapons and Special Forces combat strategy.
Both games are out in stores (no info on local availability) with Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon (Wii) selling for of $50 (Rs. 2,250 approx.) and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Predator (PSP) for $30 (Rs. 1,350 approx.). | |
