The world's largest carmaker, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) is hunting for possibilities to take its recently launched Toyota Etios sedan to China, Russia and Brazil. Toyota Etios is an affordable luxury car from Toyota which first made its debut in Indian Auto Market and now the company is searching for opportunities to take this successful car in other emerging economies. Toyota has launched Toyota Etios sedan and unveiled Toyota Etios Liva hatchback (to be launched in April, 2011) and is also planning to add Toyota Etios Diesel in its portfolio. This is the first time that the company has come up with such a low cost car and the success of Etios is visible from its prolonged waiting period. Toyota Etios sedan made its debut on 1st December 2010 where the saloon version was launched and the hatchback was revealed. And now sources from industry has said that the company is making studies in Brazil, China and Russia for measuring possibilities of launching Toyota Etios in these emerging economies. The present statistics shows that emerging markets makes 40% of Toyota Motor Corporation and with this the company intends to nourish its portfolio in China, India, Brazil, Russia, Indonesia and Vietnam which will increase their contribution by striking 10 per cent.
Toyota at present is going through pressurized sales owing to slow recovery in European and North American markets. The sales figures declined by 4.78% with only 7.24 million units sold last year whereas in North America sales took a dip of 5.7%. Now in order to increase its sales volume, th company wants to grow its roots in the emerging economies. In Indian Auto Market, where it exist in partnership with Kirloskar Group the company has established a new manufacturing unit at Bidadi in Karnataka. This new plant will come into action by 20th December where it will bring out 70,000 units of Toyota Etios and Toyota Etios Liva. Looking at the tremendous demand of its all new Etios saloon, the company has targeted to double up its sales to 140,000-150,000 vehicles in 2011. The hatchback version named Toyota Etios Liva is next in line to get an official launch and already the company has blown up the trumpets.
