 With the advancement of time and modern way of living most of us wear footwear inside the house but in ancient Indian saint and sages strongly opposed the concept of wearing footwear inside the house. The footwear we wear to go outdoors bring dirt and filth inside with them which affect the health of family members adversely. The dirt of footwear causes infections and several other diseases. So it is better to remove them outside the house from health’s point of view. A religious factor also works behind it. In India people used to build temples or a room meant for worshipping Gods and Goddesses inside their houses. Wearing of worshipping footwear’s inside the house or inside the place of worship, in a way shows disrespect towards Gods and Goddesses. Other then keeping idols of Gods and Goddesses people keep several articles which are considered to be either religiously auspicious or highly revered so its better to keep shoes and slippers outside in order to maintain the respect and auspiciousness of such revered articles. Thus keeping footwear outside the house maintains the sanctity and purity of the house and it is believed that Lords dwell there permanently and bless everyone with happiness, peace and prosperity |
