9:35 AM And the groom blings |
![]() Shopping, shopping and more shopping. This is one thing that the bride and groom can never get enough of. With the bridal season in full swing, markets are flooded with ‘n’ number of options in terms of clothes, accessories, jewellery, gifts et al, with each better than the other. The range of products is huge and so is the variation in price. With wedding bells ringing for many, grooms are not far behind in bracing themselves with their decked up brides. And jewellery, today, seems to be the new synonym for both bride and groom. Let’s begin from the kalgi, a turban ornament, which is usually attached with the turban. For a grandeur look, people are now investing in a customized one. Traditionally a kundan piece of jewellery, it is also done in diamonds and coloured stones these days. From single to double to triple piece kalgis, the variety is huge, and the price range generally starts from rupees one lakh and above. Then, the groom adorns kadas. Usually in gold, kadas are now being done in diamonds as well. Talking of diamonds, men are not hesitant in flashing solitaires on their earlobes. "I usually wear a small stud. So, when it came to shopping for the special day, I thought of flashing a bigger diamond and hence, bought a pair of princess cut for myself,” said Sanam Wadhwa, who’s all geared up for his wedding in December. Men are splurging as much majestically on their jewellery, as women. They wish to be captured in the frame of time in an avatar none less than a maharaja. Bigger, the better is their choice. Kunal Khanna, owner of Jewellers Khanna Sons, reveals, "Necklace for men is known as kantha, done usually in kundan. They are big and thick, and are now being done in pearls mixed with kundan. Their length is usually long, ranging five to nine strands.” With men taking so much pain in putting together their look, we say the groom is sure to bling on his special day! |
