Pranayam is the best way to tranquilise one’s mind. Its regular practice increases concentration. Experts suggest performing ‘Bhramari Pranayama’ after mid-night to avail the maximum benefits incorporated by the serene atmosphere – Firt sit in a comfortable posture keeping the head, back and spine erect. Then cover both the ears by pressing the thumbs of both your hands. Inhale slowly and deeply through both nostrils.Retain the breath for a while then exhale touching the lungs, throat area and larynx.While inhaling and exhaling, concentrate the conscious mind on the throat and produce a humming sound like the buzzing of a bee. One should start by doing it 10-12 times a day which can be gradually increase to 25-30 times. Its regular practice reduces flickering of mind and results in concentration. Bhramari Pranayam is suggested for those who are suffering from insomnia and is useful for hypertension and depression. |
