New Delhi: People in the past made it a point to have courtyards built inside their house. They used to consider it inauspicious not to have courtyards. However, with the changing times, the practice of having open courtyards in the house has completely changed. First and foremost, it is not practical to have courtyards in the house due to the scarcity of space, particularly in urban areas. It is out of the question for the present generation to even think about having on open - wide - uncovered courtyards in the houses. As per Vaastu Shastra, the area which is meant for constructing spacious courtyard is called Brahma-isthan, which must be left vacant/empty/unoccupied with no pillars at all. Otherwise, the master of the house has to suffer many crises, including problems on the financial front. It has also been scientifically been proven that if 'Brahma isthan' is kept open and unobstructed, the sun-rays make their way straight into the house bringing positive vibes. Apart from that the solar energy is also needed to revitalize the inmates of the house. |
