Designers Anu Nagappa and Susan Fernandes are back with their latest collection for Spring-Summer 2011. Inspired by the mystique of ancient tribes, the designer duo launched their collection, Spirit of the Tribes. Along with the jewellery brand Arnav, their show saw a fusion of fashion and jewellery for the discerning urban woman. Talking about their latest collection, Anu says, "This Spring-Summer, we opted to go in for a tribal look. It features dresses with an ethnic touch to it, with loads of colours and patches,” she informs. Camouflaging the delicate and bold, contemporary and classic, traditional and new, Anu tells us that there are three sequences that draw upon the tribal elements. "Our first theme is the Patchwork Boulevard, which will see pure Indian silk and embellished brocades from duo-toned pin tucked dresses to a pastiché of fabric and colours. "While Ephemerally Yours, our second collection is a mix of mirrors and dark colours on Lucknowi chikan and in our third sequence, Timeless Collection, we have used satin silk fabric for cocktail dresses,” she explains. On why they chose a tribal theme for next summer, Anu says, "Tribal is going to be the new fashion for summer next year. The power of native culture, interpreted in a modern context will definitely have an influence in the modern world.” Giving us an insight on what the next summer holds for fashion, she explains, "Fashion in 2011 looks very interesting and apart from tribal, floral prints will also be in vogue. As a matter of fact, we have worked on a floral collection for next year. With ultra bright colours and interesting themes, I’m sure it’s going to be a bright summer. Colours like white will also make its presence felt, like always.” |
