 They’re the darlings of the fashion-conscious everywhere, known to flatter the calves and thighs like no other. While pop singer Britney Spears recently donned just a negligee with her boots and French wig designer Charlie Le Mindu (whose creations are worn by singer Lady Gaga) broke fashion’s last taboo after he sent models walking nude down the catwalk in just hot pink high-heeled boots, hats, bags, and wigs — boots are definitely haute this winter. While actor Koena Mitra believes boots go well with jeans and jackets, actor Genelia D’Souza says, "To me, boots are like wearing a white shirt — I can wear them formal or casual. I’ve got a good collection of boots, thigh length ones too that could go well with a short dress. With the weather dipping, they’re a great accessory.” Say hello to the bootie too Textured boots with animal prints are back. Affirms designer Ana Singh, "I saw so many designers abroad, from YSL to Zanotti doing leopard and textured boots this year. As for me, I’ve worn my Stetson, python and other boots all my life and tucking them into jeans is a turn-of-winter trend. Booties are also big now and can give one a slimmer fit. Wear them floral, lacy or with buckles.” Wearing it right Designer Gayatri Khanna admits boots make foran apt change-of-season fashion. "They can jazz up the winter look completely,” she says, adding, "In Mumbai, you can do short boots and longer ones if it gets colder. You can accessorise the look with hoop earrings or bangles. If you want to go western, use a cowboy hat with your boots or patent ones for an evening look.” Hints Singh, "It’s important to wear lighter boots in Mumbai. And get the heel size right for the wrong ones can make short women look stumpy. Suede ones and those with a fur topping are very trendy right now,” she ends. |
