Generally, the people do not construct basements in their houses; only a few house owners who want more space construct it. According to Vaastu basements are a bad idea but if they are a necessity than the following things should be kept in mind -
1. Construct the basement in the east or the north zone of the house and avoid its construction below the house.
2. North-east direction is suitable to construct a basement.
3. The person who resides in the basement, face a lot of obstacles and feels inferior to his siblings and his/her business does not flourish.
4. Basements are useful for shops and malls.
5. A basement in the north-east direction receives ample sun light which negates negative energy and avoids moisture.
