The north direction of a house is considered to be the dwelling place of Shri Kuber Dev, according to Vaastu Shastra. That is the reason why this direction directly affects wealth, prosperity, affluence and opulence of a family. Vaastu Shastra stresses that north direction safeguards one’s wealth and riches so he can keep his hard cash, jewellery and other precious articles without a tinge of suspicious or being skeptical.
On the contrary, there are a few Vaastu Scholars who are of the opinion that hard cash must be kept in the north direction and jewellery, precious gemstones and other valuables in the south direction. The reason being, hard cash is lighter than gems and jewels, so they must be stored in the north and gems and jewels being heavy, cannot be stored anywhere. To ensure their safety, they must be stored inside the safe of an almirah or a vault in the south direction. Another appropriate place to keep hard cash would be the area around the place of worship in the north.
