If you have a hectic schedule, you will find yourself fatigued and exhausted by the end of the day. Exhaustion leads to lethargy and body ache. Konasana is one asana which, if practiced regularly, tones up the entire body by massaging it. It leads to a relaxed feeling with no sign of tiredness and weariness. Procedure: 1. Start the asana by standing in an attention position, facing directly forward. 2. Feet should be placed a little more than shoulder width apart 3. Make sure the body weight is evenly balanced. Inhale while simultaneously raising the right arm up along the side of the right ear. Stretch the arm until you feel the stretch along the entire right side of your body. 4. Exhale as you bend to your left. Slide your left hand down the left leg and try to touch your left toes with your fingers- go as far as you can without bending your elbows and knees. 5. Breathing regularly, hold the position for about 30 seconds. 6. Return to the centre and repeat the same process on the other side. Benefits : This asana rids the body of tension and opens up the chest area. It massages the neck and side muscles, and the area where fat accumulates. It benefits women by slimming their waistline and shaping their hipline, thus increasing the flexibility of the waist and hip joints. It also invigorates blood circulation by enabling a person to attain full and erect stature. |
