5:13 PM Reduce arthritis pain through ‘Tadasana’ |
Arthritis, whether osteo or rheumatoid, is one of the most common age-related ailments. However, even youngsters, especially overweight persons, can have complains of a sore and stiffen limbs and joints. People suffering from arthritis tend to restrict their movement due to pain in their joints, which can make the matter worse, so, it is advisable to continue doing some light exercises without putting extra pressure on the affected limbs and joints One of the most effective ways of reducing the unbearable pain of arthritis is-Tadasana. The ‘yog asana’ not only reduces the pain in joints by relaxing the muscles, it also strengthens one’s lungs. The sequence of Tadasana: *Stand erect, feet parallel at a distance of 6-9 inches. The neck and spine should be erect. *Raise both the arms from the front and both the heels simultaneously and inhale. *Stretch to the maximum, keeping the hands touching the ear with palm inwards and retain the pose for few seconds. *Exhale slowly and return to the normal standing position. * Repeat the same procedure for at least five times. There are several benefits of this asana. It aims to stretch the body vertically with a combination of anterior, posterior and lateral skeleton movements. The ankles, knees, elbows, arm and shoulders are stretched with rhythmic breathing. This not only improves movement of the joints but also strengthens the lung’s capacity. Arthritis patients can feel relaxed as the gap between the joints receives a soothing effect, which gives relief from pain. |
