 Death is inevitable. This is the eternal truth emphasised by all religions. In Hindu religion, there are certain important rituals out of which cremation of parents by the son is quite significant. Parents take up the journey to their heavenly abode only when their son performs the last rites specifically putting fire into the mouth of corpse at the time of lighting the funeral pyre. The Hindu scriptures say that the son saves the parents from the demon called ‘Narak’ and they depart for their heavenly abode only when the last rites are performed by the son. |
